Two Park Scholars Win Statewide Journalism Awards

NC State Student Media brought home several awards from the North Carolina College Media Association’s annual conference on Feb. 24. Two Park Scholars, Ryley Fallon ’24 and Jeanine Ikekhua ’24 were part of the winning staff.

Ryley is the editor-in-chief of Windhover. Jeanine is the managing editor of the Nubian Message.

The conference, held this year at High Point University, focused on storytelling as a major theme. And NC State’s student-led media outlets were recognized for their innovative ways of storytelling and journalism.

Four print outlets – Agromeck, Nubian Message, Technician and Windhover – all won best-in-show awards. These awards recognize overall excellence for the publications. 

Staff members from all four publications also won 23 individual awards for specific categories.
