We are thrilled to welcome Amanda Dietrick to the team! She started a few weeks ago as the Business Services Coordinator.
- What most excites you about being back at NC State/working in Park Scholarships?
After reading about the four main principles of Park Scholarships, the individual experiences of some of the program participants, and about Roy Park himself, I knew I had to be a part of the team that supports these amazing students making a positive impact in our world today.
- What do you bring to the Park Scholarships team?
Much of my experience has been in office type settings and customer service/hospitality, so I have a good grasp of professional and personable principles. I’ve worked in a community college Controller’s Office processing travel and grant related transactions, I’ve managed offices and handled bookkeeping duties, and I’ve worked for companies including Walt Disney World, Marriott, Wegmans and ShopRite. I love to organize and bring order to chaos, I enjoy making things balance and add up, strive to keep things running smoothly, and thrive off interacting with others. I hope to be an asset to everyone in the Park community!
- How would you describe your connection to the NC State community? Why are you excited to be here?
I am brand new to the state of North Carolina and to the NC State community, but the sense of pride and genuine camaraderie I feel when talking to current students and alumni drew me in to the fold. I’m SO excited to be a member of Park Scholarships and the Wolfpack!
- How did you end up in Raleigh?
I migrated here from Western NY to escape the cold and to be closer to family and friends. My brother scouted this area years ago and it was ideal for culture, community, climate, crime rate and many other appealing qualities, so it was pretty easy to convince me to follow.
- What volunteer/outside organizations are you part of outside of work? Any hobbies or interests that would help students relate to you?
I am actively looking for volunteer opportunities in the area. I currently volunteer at the Carolina Care Center, and I’ve previously volunteered with seniors, in soup kitchens, and for various other community improvement opportunities. I love nature and the outdoors, fitness and exercise (including team sports), creative outlets and trying ALL the food!
- Anything else you’d like the Park community to know about you?
I always strive to see the best in everybody and the bright side of everything. I believe the only silly question is the one never asked, that there is always room for improvement and that we can learn something new every day!
