The following Park community members have received media attention in recent weeks:

Brian Gaudio ‘13, co-founder of Module Design, LLC, was featured on Pittsburgh’s DI Podcast. His company – which specializes in “urban incremental housing” – won the MIT Enterprise Forum Pitchfest and was selected as one of three companies to participate in Pittsburgh-based startup accelerator Idea Foundry’s Intersector Program. The program includes 12 weeks of mentorship, business development services, and an investment.

Alyson Harding ’13, construction site supervisor for New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity, was featured in a recent blog post by the organization. She addressed her experience of participating in ten consecutive days of building Habitat homes last spring, during her second year with AmeriCorps. Harding’s history with Habitat for Humanity began when she was a freshman serving with NC State’s chapter. After graduation, she spent her first AmeriCorps year with the organization in Denver and her second near Charleston, S.C.

Annie Lopez ‘17, a biological and agricultural engineering major, and Bob Patterson, Alumni Distinguished Professor of Crop Science and a Park Faculty Scholar for the Class of 2017, were both recipients of NC State’s 2016 Green Brick Award for their dedication to sustainability initiatives and advocacy. Lopez, who will serve as 2016-17 student coordinator for the NC State Stewards, has been instrumental in the university’s reduced usage of plastic bags. Patterson has encouraged almost five decades’ worth of students to take action in pursuit of global food systems’ sustainability, his primary area of research.

Jim Martin, professor of chemistry and a Park Faculty Scholar for the Class of 2014, announced his candidacy for re-election to the Wake County, N.C. Board of Education. He has held this position since 2011, serving on the board’s Policy and Facilities Committees.

On June 1, Will Quick ’07, president of the Friends of the Library Board of Directors, joined NCSU Libraries representatives at the White House, where NC State’s library system was one of ten in the U.S. to receive the 2016 National Medal for Museum and Library Service from Michelle Obama and the director of the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
