Sarah Ho will join NC State in July as assistant director of the Park Scholarships program.
As assistant director, Ho will have primary responsibility for many of the program’s key enrichment experiences. She will coordinate four annual trips – two Learning Laboratories and two retreats – working with faculty and student committees to develop content for each. She will also advise the student committee that leads Service Raleigh, an annual day of service to the community engaging about 2,000 volunteers. In addition, Ho will organize the yearlong Freshman Seminar; oversee scholars’ Plans of Professional Development; and coordinate the faculty committee that awards Park Enrichment Grants for service, research, study abroad, and more. She will play a key role in the selection process for each new class of Park Scholars, as well.
Ho is currently the assistant director of the Butler Center for Service and Leadership at the University of Miami, where she serves as advisor for 20 service and leadership student organizations such as the Butler Center Student Advisory Board, Relay for Life, University of Miami Alternative Breaks, Tunnel of Oppression, and Alpha Phi Omega.
While at the University of Miami, Ho developed a Leadership Transition Workshop series to assist student organization leaders transitioning in and out of their positions. She also planned and implemented the university’s annual orientation day of service and the inaugural Women’s Leadership Symposium.
Ho previously worked at Oberlin College at the Bonner Center for Service and Learning. She holds a master’s degree from Bowling Green State University and a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University, where she was a Morrill Scholarship recipient and a Mount Leadership Society Scholar, as well as the chairperson for Rock the Block, an annual day of service connecting 1,200 students with over 90 local non-profit organizations.
