Park Scholar Kerr Robinson (2005) keeps an online journal of her experiences as a new graduate.
The NC State Alumni Association is keeping close tabs on a recent Park Scholar graduate. Their online feature, ”Follow the New Grad,” spotlights Kerr Robinson (2005) who graduated in May with a Bachelors degree in Graphic Design and a minor in Business.
Since then, Kerr has been busy making the transition to New York City and settling into her new job at design firm 2×4. She’s documenting her experiences through weekly posts on the Alumni Association Web site.
The Spanish Fort, Alabama, native is no stranger to the big apple. While in school, Kerr spent two summers in the city interning with InStyle magazine. During her senior year, she received a Fulbright Scholarship to study the influence of design on education in Ireland, but the opportunity to return to New York and work with the prestigious firm was one she couldn’t refuse.
While at NC State, Kerr served as the Art Editor and Director for NC State’s online magazine Americana. She was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Tau Sigma Delta, Golden Chain and the Order of Thirty and Three.
Kerr was also featured by the NC State ACHIEVE! campaign for her work with Lees Carpets. She was one of six design students who created a new flooring collection called rbn (pronounced urban). Their designs won the Silver Award in the broadloom carpet category at the 2003 NeoCon World’s Trade Fair.
Kerr’s ties to NC State—particularly the Park Scholarship—are strong. Her father and grandfather both graduated from the University. Her older sister Laura (2003) is a Park alumna, while younger sister Lindsey (2008) is a current scholar in the Program.
