The Interdisciplinary Studies Faculty Council awarded Bob Patterson Fellow for Spring 2023 to Ariana Frazier, Class of 2023.
Ariana Frazier graduated as a double major in Africana Studies and Self-Design with a concentration in “Public Health: Health Equity Promotion.” She is originally from a small town in South Carolina and later moved to northern Virginia before pursuing her undergraduate career at NC State. Ariana was a Park Scholar and a University Honors Scholar in addition to leading organizations on campus. She sang soprano on the Uninhibited Praise Gospel Choir, served as Vice President for the Minority Association of Pre-Health Students and Vice President of the Kappa Omicron Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. One of her faculty nominators wrote, “Ariana is motivated, bright, intellectually curious, hard-working, and committed to social justice issues.” Ariana conducted research both on and off campus with a focus on the health and wellness of minority populations in North Carolina. Ariana plans to continue her education by pursuing a Master of Public Health degree in Maternal, Child, and Family Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Alisa Andrews, bachelor of arts in Science, Technology, and Society and a bachelor of science in Agricultural Science, University Scholar, a Caldwell Fellow, a University Ambassador, and a Thomas Jefferson Scholar, also received the honor.
