From the Director, Eva Feucht

Eva FeuchtWith half of the Spring 2018 semester already behind them, Park Scholars have a great deal to celebrate! The 14th annual Krispy Kreme Challenge welcomed ~5,600 participants on Feb. 3 and raised $170,000 for UNC Children’s Hospital, bringing the race’s cumulative donation to $1.5 million. On Jan. 26-27, Park Scholars and other NC State student leaders hosted 65 North Carolina high schoolers for the 9th annual Triangle Youth Leadership Conference, inspiring young people to take innovative approaches to improving their communities. Sophomore Park Scholars are deep in the throes of their Civic Engagement Initiatives with partner organizations such as the Downtown Housing Improvement Corporation (DHIC), InterAct, and Special Olympics North Carolina. Current scholars in all four classes have been participating in thought-provoking Leadership Academy modules. Last month, we hosted 112 terrific Class of 2022 Finalists, and we look forward to announcing the Class of 2022 in May. Two Park Scholars were recently named Finalists for the Truman Scholarship, and we're wishing Logan Graham '19 and Ashley Lawson '18 well in their upcoming interviews. Finally, we hope many of you will join us on Apr. 6-7 for the 2nd biannual sPark and on Apr. 14 for the 21st annual Service Raleigh!
