Donald Katz was offered a Fulbright grant for the 2007 year.
On May 16, NC State’s Belltower was lit red in honor of Donny Katz (2007).
Donny, who hails from Freehold, NJ, studied Civil Engineering and received the senior award for academic achievement in that field. At NC State, he was active in Men’s crew, serving as the vice president, captain and president of the crew team. He organized the team’s first Million Meter Row event and facilitated the purchase of a new boat.
Donny also served in the Institute of Transportation Engineers and conducted research in truck traffic in North Carolina. He studied abroad at the University of Cape Town. With his Fulbright grant he will now conduct research in Bangladesh, before entering graduate school in transportation engineering.
The Fulbright Program is the nations flagship program in international educational exchange. Named for Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas, it promotes ”mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries of the world. The grants help fund many educational activities including university lecturing, advanced research, graduate study and teaching in elementary and secondary schools. Recipients are chosen on the basis of leadership potential.
